[cynic]

Cynicism is the worst disease I've got right now. Sarcasm, its ugly cousin, is far too comfortable hanging around.

It's more damaging than any cold, flu, or gluten intolerance.

It's the way I build walls against hurt or disappointment, stay in control, judge others, feed my inflated self-image, prove my wit, don't have to trust anyone, and it sucks.

I am confident that with patience and effort and keeping my hands open, I can learn a different way of viewing people, the world, and my circumstances, but I'm not exactly sure where to start... Probably by asking for help and rereading this speech.

Here's to giving up cynicism and sarcasm and letting LOVE win in 2011!

*edit: in other 2011 news, mean jokes aren't funny anymore. Thanks for the charge, @laurenlankford.
